The River

Henry's Fork was named for Andrew Henry, a
partner of famed Mountain Man William H. Ashley.
Together these trappers organized the first Rocky
Mountain Rendezvous in July of 1825 not far from
here along this river.

The waters of Henry's Fork provide clear, fast-
moving, oxygen-charged habitat needed by trout
and the aquatic insects trout feed on. Cottonwoods
and willows line the creek, buffering the stream-
banks against erosion as well as providing nesting
and foraging habitat for migrating birds.
