About Thayne
Thayne occupies a spot near the Salt River in Star Valley. Sitting at 5945 feet in elevation, it is surrounded by the green grass of ranchland with a backdrop of forested mountains. A handful of business and homes are clustered along U.S. Highway 89, with just a few side streets branching off from the main route. Other homes are scattered through the valley, and with the beautiful scenery, the area has become somewhat of a retreat for 'urban cowboys' and other retirees.
In the year 2000, Thayne's population stood at 341. The Idaho state line is just a few miles to the west. Afton is the largest nearby town, several miles south on Highway 89.
